Create Pool - Only "Stripe" available

Hi Guys,

It is my first time trying to work with TrueNAS. Please excuse me if this is a silly question.

OS: MX-Linux
I installed TrueNAS under QEMU, no problem at all.
I created 2 virtual HDD of 10GB each that TrueNAS can access.

The only issue appears when I am trying to create a pool using the HDD under TrueNAS.
Only "Stripe" option is available and even if I select this and "Force" it, I still cannot click to go ahead.

I was wondering if there is a setting on QEMU or TrueNAS that I am missing to make TrueNAS work with virtual HDD?

Thank you very much for your help.

If you have only two virtual disks, one is already use by the OS install. If you want to create a pool from two disks, you need three in total.

I assume this is just an experimental installation? Installing on virtual disks is not supported for production use.

You're exactly right. I ran into this with VMware Fusion too when I was getting to know the TrueNAS interface.

Thanks a lot for your answer, Patrick.
Yes, this is indeed for an experimental purpose untill I get an appropriate dedicated computer.

Even with 2 HDD the only option other than "stripe" is "mirror" but the "Create" button still stays in grey and I cannot click it. (screenshot in the attachment)

Please note that a friend of mine tried with VirtualBox without issue so that is the reason why I thought it could be a QEMU/Virtual_Manager misconfiguration.

Please also note that I tried with a USB stick with the same issue.

Thank you

It's grayed out because you haven't given the pool a name yet. Look at the first part of the form.

Thanks so much!

I feel really stupid now but in fact I could not see the field with the dark team. :-(

Thank you again!

No worries. I did the same thing as you last week. I installed TrueNAS SCALE on a VM just to play around with the interface before I decided to move forward with my TrueNAS build. I played around a lot with virtual drives and different ZFS configurations.
