Finally I was able to setup Crashplan 4.4.1 on freenas using combination of guides I fond on this site.
However, I have a computer which backs up to this jailed Crashplan. It just says "Waiting for Connection".

I tried port forwarding port 4284, but to no effect.
Under CrashPlan >Destinations > Computer > FreeNAS
The computer shows Internet address: 192.168.xx.xx:4284 (47.21.xx.xx public)
Connection status: Disconnected, retrying in <1 minute

Anyone solve this problem?

Having exactly the same issue after upgrading to 4.4.1. Clicking retry eventually gets Crashplan to connect for a minute or so, but then it drops off. This is not happening with my Windows 2012 Server also running Crashplan 4.1.1. May have to log this one with Crashplan themselves...

That surprisingly fixed the issue for me on some Windows machines too.

This can also happen if your desktop version is a different version than the plugin version. check out /usr/pbi/crashplan-amd64/share/crashplan/log/app.log to see what version your plugin is

Dima, were you able to find a solution? I have the same problem and I have tried cleaning the cache already as well as verifying desktop and plugin version are the same.

Hi all, joined to offer a possible fix. I had this problem with one of my computers (but not the others, even though they're all running Windows 7 and on the same router). Went through everything in https://support.code42.com/CrashPlan/4/Troubleshooting/Connections_Between_Computers without success.

What fixed it for me was unblocking network edge traversal: changing "Control Panel, Windows Firewall with Advanced Security, Inbound Rules, CrashPlanService, Advanced, Edge Traversal" from _Block Edge Traversal_ to either _Allow Edge Traversal_ or _Defer to Application_ and it would happily connect and stay connected.

The waiting for connection status could be a result of many things as it simply means the crashplan client app can't communicate with the crashplan jail.

To determine the actual issue, one would need to do some troubleshooting, verifying everything was configured correctly in the crashplan jail; ensuring the config file in the crashplan client app had the correct line uncommented; if utilizing storage on FreeNAS, instead of the crashplan jail, ensuring the backuparchives folder is removed, then symlinked the the FreeNAS storage mount, etc.

Anyone get this from these guys recently?

Dear XXXX,

Our records indicate that one or more of the devices associated with your CrashPlan account are using an operating system that does not meet the supported operating system version requirements.

Beginning on May 16, 2016, all devices that connect to the Code42 public cloud will be upgraded to CrashPlan app version 4.7. If you use another computer you own or a friend's computer as a backup destination, both computers must upgrade to CrashPlan app version 4.7 in order for backups to continue. These computers must be upgraded to a supported operating system so that the CrashPlan app can automatically upgrade to version 4.7 and continue computer-to-computer backups.

Details on this topic and your options can be found on our support site.

For an optimal data backup strategy, we strongly recommend that our users backup to three destinations – local, offsite and online. Learn more about our triple destination backup strategy here.

If you are interested in learning more about automatic, continuous cloud storage options from CrashPlan, check out our subscription options at store.code42.com/store/.

Thank you,

The CrashPlan team

I haven't... do you by chance have a paid subscription for CrashPlan's servers [curious to see if this is only being sent to users with a subscription]?

Did have paid, cancelled it 2 years ago when they decided to charge different (ripoff) rates for Australians to the rest of the world.
