I’m having issues dealing with 1TB or 2TB SMB transfers. On Cobia 23.10.1 my system freezes and crashes. I then downgraded to Bluefin 22.12.3 and my transfers work now. Identical settings/share/permissions. I don’t know what is going on.
I’ve read that it can be my NIC but I have an Intel NIC so that’s not it. My ram tests pass. Seeing as my transfers works in Bluefin and not Cobia, is it a Cobia issue?
How can I get crash logs…. but I dont know how to read them to figure out what is going on.
I’m running truenas scale on bare metal. Specs below:
  1. CPU- intel xeon 1245 v5
  2. MOBO- supermicro x11ssh-f
  3. RAM- ECC UDIMM (2) 16 gb by Nemix
  4. SSD boot drive- 240gb Crucial
  5. One VDEV (HDD) in raid Z2- (5) 8TB Toshiba N300, (1) 8TB Seagate ironwolf

Could be a crash, logs are in /var/log. But for us to really dig into this, I'd recommend the following:

Update back to 23.10.1, run until there is a crash. Generate a fresh debug file and attach it to a new bug ticket for us to review. The debug should have enough log information for us to determine where the crash is coming from. (Hopefully)
