Recently updated to FreeNAS 8.3. After the update all was working fine then a few days ago I was unable to access my CIFS shares. Nothing I am aware of changed except some Windows updates, but I can't say for sure if the problem happened immediately after the updates or not. Basically I cannot access my CIFS shares anymore I get the following error,

windowserror.PNG

I removed all users and shares and started over first resetting permissions,

changepermissions.PNG

I have tried UNIX ACL's as well, same result.

Also I am able to access the /mnt/ada5 via the shell,
permsinshellUNIX.PNG

Below are my CIFS config,
cifssettings1.PNG

cifssettings2.PNG

This is the only error in /var/log/samba/log.smbd,
Code:
[2012/12/12 11:04:19.884181, 3] smbd/error.c:81(error_packet_set)
  error packet at smbd/reply.c(803) cmd=117 (SMBtconX) NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED

Please help,
Chad

Just has similar issue - logs as per yours

I restarted AD control service but no effect. I then edited Active Directory config to other DC and now all working? Curious is that both DC's are in sync (I checked and forced a sync).

It looks like although freenas has joined the domain it looks like all user requests were not being looked up.

NB Also noticed that if primary DC (as per AD config) is not available Freenas does not automatically look for another DC
