So I can't ping my freenas "apollo" but I can ping my plexserver. I can connect to plex with my tv. I show that apollo is connected on my router at ...1.177. I can ping plex @..1.178. This started when I went into the Jail and tried to restart my firefly plugin, it seemed to have just hung up.. I waited about an hour before I rebooted. The other thing I may have done, but I rebooted it a few times since then was turned on SSH. I wanted to remote in from my linux laptop to look at the terminal from there. I am not sure if turning on SSH would effect it or not. I cannot access the plexserver through http://...1.178:32400, but I don't think I ever tried that way before... I think I always accessed it through the nas... Though if I try to access it through http.. I get 401 Unauthorized. It does show the icon at the corner of the browser's tab. Also I cannot access my windows file shares. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am getting better with linux but I am not as good as I am with MS windows ... Yet...

Are you trying to ping apollo by name or IP address? What error do you get when you try to ping?

When I tried to ping it from Linux box to the IP address, I did not get a reply and I lost all packets.

I do not remember if I tried pinging to host name "Apollo". If I did I want to say that it just told me host could not be found.

Did you have a suggestion I could try when I get home? I can try to ping from a windows box when I get home if need be.

Pinging the name will not work unless DNS or the hosts file on both systems is properly configured. If it does not ping by IP, post the error messages when you get a chance to try.

Could this have anything to do with me trying to setup ddns ??

OK, so this is weird. Apollo appears to be accessible from windows, but not from Linux box. Does anyone know why or how this could have happened? ... Besides me being very new to Linux... If someone could tell me how to fix it that would be a bonus.. I can ping hostname and ip from windows, but I cannot ping host or ip address from Linux. (I know its something to do with my client now just don't know why)

When I logged in to Apollo with my Windows Box, the footer showed that there was a MAC address on the network that was using the same IP as what I just set my firefly app to.. Low and behold! It was my Linux box. Rookie mistake lol Now to take another stab at making firefly work :)
