Can "Recycle bin" be activated on the SMB share "later"?

On my new TrueNAS install I cannot activate the "Recycle Bin" on the Share, which has been already created and up and running - the check box stays gray.
Is this by design or I am missing something basic?

Switch purpose from "default share parameters" to "no presets"

No problem. Generally speaking, recycle bin is somewhat inferior to using zfs snapshots on an automated schedule. We keep it around mostly for legacy reasons and edge cases (hence, hidden under advanced settings).

That's what (recycle bin functionality more as an exception) I have understood already, I just wanted to check it and could not figure out how to make the checkbox changeable.
