SOLVED Bizarre anomaly in memory size reporting

Two systems with what I think of as "the same" amount of memory, ASUS motherboards (though different ones), and the same AMD processor -- reporting different amounts of memory! (Trivial difference.)

These systems we throw around so casually are awfully complicated!

16082MB vs 16257MB (so, trivial difference; but I wouldn't have expected any difference).

I don't see any problem to solve here, at least (I don't imagine) in FreeNAS; just surprised and amused.

Most likely video memory reservation, or some other difference in the memory map. Did you check the BIOS to see if they were both set the same?

Doh! Yep, that'll be it. The one reporting slightly less memory is the one with on-board video, the one reporting more available memory uses an external graphics card.
