Hi Everyone. I have recently set up a new Truenas Scale system and migrated all my files from a Drobo 5N (took ages). Now I'd like to use that Drobo as a backup for my important files. No sense in letting 11TB go to waste. Can someone please tell me how to let Truenas know where to find the drive? Both systems are on the same network. I'll be using Syncthing or Rsync but as far as setup goes I'm new to Truenas so please bear with me. Hopefully there's a GUI solution rather than command line but I'll take what I can get.

Thank you!

Using an rsync task seems best suited to what you want since you already mentioned rsync...

Set up an rsync task on TrueNAS dashboard to the Drobo IP (if static) or domain name.

The better option is for Drobo to pull the information from TrueNAS. If Ransomeware infects your TrueNAS server and encrypts the files slowly over time the client will still see the data as "clean" until the decryption is turned off and your data is held for ransom. Then you'll at least have an unencrypted recent copy to restore.
