Hardware:
- Dell R720 Server
- 2x Xeon 2630 V2
- 24GB DDR3 ECC RAM
- using inegrated broadcom NIC's (total of 4 1Gb ports)
- 1 ethernet port is dedicated for TrueNAS and is passed through using a Linux Bridge
Software:
- Proxmox VE Version 8.0.3
- TrueNAS Scale Bluefin 22.12.3.3
- using Traefik for reverse proxy
Issue:
A few days ago my TrueNAS instance became difficult to access. Whether accessing it from outside my network or from within when trying to login I'm presented with the "Connecting to TrueNAS ... Make sure the TrueNAS system is powered on and connected to the network." message. After a few seconds the login page will load and I can login after which point the system no longer drops out on most occasions. I've timed the drop outs and it's fairly consistent; ~17 seconds of uptime before it drops for ~40 seconds. I doubt this is a timeout issue as the system keeps me logged in after it comes back up. Other services such as Vaultwarden and Nextcloud have been having issues contacting the TrueNAS system as well which leads me to believe it's a passthrough issue or something is wrong with Traefik. I also pinged 1.1.1.1 and got a packet loss of over 50% which would explain the spotty behavior.
I'm honestly not sure where to start. I know logs will likely tell me the answer but which ones do I look at? What am I looking for?
Things I've tried:
- Set static IP within the TrueNAS GUI
- Deleted any Nameserver entries
- tried giving the VM it's dedicated NIC (1Gb 1 port Realtek Card) passed directly through as a PCI device; this caused the VM to no longer start
Things that changed since it was last working properly:
- Enabled 2FA
